I was born in Cleethorpes in 1947. I attended Grimsby School of Art before undertaking my graduate and post graduate studies at Maidstone College of Art and Manchester University.
After teaching in the midlands for 35 years, I moved to Beverley in 2005. In 2007 my painting – Queensgate Beverley won the Inaugral Elwell painting competition sponsored by the BBC.
I make large acrylic paintings in a realist style. As a figurative painter I look for odd and edgy combinations of places, objects and people that might be stumbled across in my locality. My work contains elements of social comment and humour and I see it as a record, portrait of 21st century life
