The Welsh Sculptor, Saffron Waghorn has based her creativity at the Cliff Top location at Skipsea for around twenty years. Last Year the old Chalets were removed due to escalating coastal erosion, there are now new buildings being built further inland. The whole site magnifies the temporary existence of manmade structures Vs the elements.
Saffron has provided Site Specific Sculptures, Art Trails and Public Workshops for many organizations and schools, both locally and nationwide, such as E.R.O.Y council, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Artlink. The Land at Skipsea is her canvas. There is a beautiful contrast between the solid timelessness of her stone sculptures and the crumbling cliffs being washed into the sea. It’s a very poetic existence, where art and life merge, like tides on the shore.
