I feel everyone has two sides, be-it the one that goes to work or the person at home. I try to capture my two sides; one builds memories ‘feelings’ from childhood and yesterday using found objects to express what no one sees.
Then my paintings show a side we all see, but we view differently. My love is Yorkshire and its landscape, I want to capture ‘that thing’ Cycling around Yorkshire and the East Riding sooner or later something makes you stop, this could be a vast expanse of landscape or a noise, I try to capture this feeling in a drawing, maybe a few simple marks. These are made into larger oil paintings while still fresh in my thoughts using broad brush strokes with one thing in mind ‘that thing’.
